Ancient Roman art dates aromatherapy back to 2650 B.C.
They used it during healing rituals to calm patients.
WENDY:
I now include aromatherapy in every article I write on wellness. Often, we focus on the big ticket items to stay well and forget about the little ones in between that make us happy. The nose knows and this goes a long way. Even while I write, I keep a candle lit at my desk. It creates a relaxing atmosphere. (Plus, the cat box is in the office, so it helps diffuse the smell!)
My mom recently went to Asia and brought us back some treats. Besides the deep green, marble Buddha, she brought us lemongrass incense cones that smell heavenly. We savored them. That is what started us on our incense kick. (In the past, neither one of us were fans of incense. It reminded us of college parties that used to spin our heads!) All it took to change our minds were these little cones from Asia. Now we are hooked and have stumbled upon the world of incense. We already ordered and received more lemongrass incense through Amazon. com from Thailand; though weâve decided they are definitely imposters.
HONORA:
A favorite trick of mine is to spray my favorite perfume or cologne every day. Even if I am not going anywhere, I put it on. My favorites are Clarins and Dolce and Gabanna Light Blue. I always feel better about myself with my favorite perfume on. Itâs one of my quickest fixes for a lift. Chances are your loved one will compliment you, too, so itâs a win-win. I keep several small bottles of lavender and verbena in the shower and splash that on myself too. I am all about smells.
